The Kipoi Copper Project is operated by SEK (Société d’Exploitation de Kipoi), a 95%-owned subsidiary of Tiger. Tiger is developing the Kipoi Project in stages. Stage 1 involved processing high-grade oxide copper mineralisation through a heavy media separation (“HMS”) plant, which began copper concentrate production in mid-2011.
Tiger commenced production of copper cathode at its Stage 2 Solvent Extraction Electrowinning (SXEW) plant at Kipoi in May 2014. The HMS plant ceased operation in October 2014.
Ore reserves from Kipoi Central, Kileba and Kipoi North deposits, as well as Judeira and other deposits in the Kipoi and Lupoto project areas will be processed in Stage 2 operations as well as reject floats, slimes and medium-grade ore stockpiles from Stage 1. No mining is required for the first two years of Stage 2 operations.
